The ideal nap duration – you wake up fresh!!

You have just gone through an exciting weekend! You are tired as hell and you just want to sleep. You go to your work and find yourself yawning and then you crave a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, have you thought about having a nap?

There are multiple benefits of taking a midday nap and it has been scientifically proven as well. There are many companies that give a midday break of 30 minutes to their employees so that they can have a quick nap. A quick nap is quite effective in boosting productivity, energy and the cognitive functioning of the employees. How long should you nap?

One thing that you really need to understand that nap does not mean that you lie down with a short-sleep intention and ends up sleeping for7-8 hours. That is not a nap.

There are certain rules to follow to take the full advantage of the nap:

  • Having Insomnia, do not nap

A sleep disorder is quite different from sleep deprivation. If you are sleep deprived, it can really be a great option for you to take a nap in the afternoon. But if you are suffering from insomnia, it is recommended that you do not take a nap, because it can make it difficult for you to sleep at night.

  • Not more than 30 minutes

One thing you must figure out is that ‘How long should you nap.’ There are chances that you may feel tired after a nap. This can happen when you get into a deep sleep when you just had to nap. Experts recommend that one should not take a nap for more than 30 minutes. A 30-minute power nap is really beneficial for those people who did not get enough sleep at night.

  • Not after 4 pm

If you take a nap after 4 pm, it gets a little bit harder for you to sleep at night. The chances will be better for you to sleep when you will be more tired.
